The quotation in the title is of his holiness the Dalai Lama. Because of recent events pertaining to the Tibetan conflict I wanted to curate an exhibition that expressed the conflict between war and peace. As the Dalai Lama states,"Where ignorance is our master, there is no possibility of real peace." The pieces I have chosen to be in this exhibition all relate to the criticism of war and a call to action for peace. Specifically relating to the quote it can be interpreted that ignorance is the foundation of war. Last year I was given the priveledge to attend a conference in which the Dalai Lama addressed the global youth on the importance of peace and the causes of inhumane actions. He there too addressed the idea of ignorance and misguidance as the reasons for human suffering and conflict. He stated that there is a hope for peace because everyone is born good and it is the molding of our society and constant pressures that can lead us astray. Through new media art the message for peace can be expressed in numerous ways and reach many around the globe.
