Tracing Net Art's Evolution


Debuting today on the Whitney Museum of American Art's Web site devoted to net art, Artport: Martin Wattenberg's "Idea Line." The piece presents a fan-like chronology of net artworks, including "Agree to Disagree" by (pictured), arranged by technology and theme in different threads. Each thread corresponds to a particular kind of artwork or type of technology. The brightness of an individual thread reflects the popularity of a certain technology or theme over time.
