In this convergent space, the narrowing gap between actual and artificial becomes the appropriated ideal. Its umbrella: the terms of constructed space.
MEdia_space is about the culture of ME, a way of looking but never seeing. Through the positioning of surveillance cameras and monitors that overcrowd the room, the viewer is never out of the frame on the monitor, yet can never see him/herself directly. In maneuvering the cables and wires within the slightly uncomfortable space that resembles an examination room, a doctor's table doubles as comfortable lounge chair while the viewer watches a video of a cosmetic surgery eating snacks from a tray that also contains beauty "tools". The simulated space, that also challenges public/private behavior in social space, becomes both anywhere and nowhere--evidence of the power and homogenity of consumer culture.
