A.K. Burns and Katherine Hubbard, "The Brown Bear: Neither Particular nor General" (2010)

Using the Recess Activities space, Burns and Hubbard created a working installation that intentionally conflated a hair and art salon. During "salon" hours, the space was used as an area of public engagement as Burns and Hubbard encouraged visitors to come in to receive free body-hair modifications and add to the dialogue of surveying the paradigms of appearance.
