Artist Statement

Painting, traditionally considered as the privileged visual system of representation within The Fine Arts, is a practice strongly associated with the convention of museum and the idea of white cube as institutional Art spaces. The concept of Presence in painting as well as the idea of it being an entity that occupies a specific physical space constitutes an important part in the painterly discourse. The project aims to reflect on this status of presence in painting and the render of perception that takes place within its dialogue with systems for image circulation in our contemporary visual culture.
