membership stats

hi all:

a while back someone asked how many people had signed on for rhizome
membership since we implemented our new membership policy. we currently
have just over 2,500 active members. we're getting 5-10 new members per day.

rhizome members have contributed a total of $47,000 since june 2002 (the
start of our current fiscal year). about $14,000 of that has come in since
the new policy kicked in.

best regards,

Rhizome @ DEAF03 -- online today from 16:00 - 17:00 CET

A quick reminder that is participating in DEAF03 (the Dutch
Electronic Art Festival) in Rotterdam as an Open Territories Workspace. We
are holding an open meeting today, March 1, from 16:00 - 17:00 Central
European Time Arena @ Pakhuis Las Palmas to discuss the possibility of
setting up Rhizome nodes in Europe. If you're in the neighborhood, please
stop by and visit. You can also participate online via IRC chat and web
cast. Go to and select the
#openterritories IRC channel.

Rhizome @ DEAF03

Francis and I have net access here, so this would be a good time to discuss
a potential European Rhizome node on the list. Local offshoots or nodes
could take many forms and serve various purposes, from opening up
participation in different languages to facilitating local outreach and
tapping into local resources.

Our closing presentation on Saturday at 16:00 (4pm) Central European Time
will also be webcast and will have a parallel IRC chat. To view the live
stream, go to To participate in
the live chat, go to to the same URL,, and select the #openterritories
IRC channel.
