"REFUGEE!"

artvideoKoeln is looking for artvideos dealing with the topic of “refugees” to take part in an exhibition project to be realised 2016 and later.

There are currently more than 60 millions of refugees on the globe, people who left their home country in order to escape war, persecution and murder, but also poverty, hunger and the lack of any living perspectives.

People in Europe speak currently of the “refugee crisis”, as if the streams of refugees would come by coincidence. In fact, Europe, respectively the old European colonial superpowers , among them Great Britain and France, and on a smaller scale Spain, Portgal and some others prepared the fertile soil for all current conflicts, wars and civil wars in Middle East, Asia and Africa. When the colonial powers left the stage, after World War II other imperial powers – like USA and Sovjetunion, and nowadays also some others – were replacing them and continued again the powergames at the expenses of the local people anywhere. They were feeding the current local Islam dominated regional powers in Middle East and their main tool to maintain and expand power, the terrorism. In the current “crisis”, Europe – meanwhile shrinked to a nearly irrelevant regional power – is taking the position of a silent observer with fatal effects.

It is said, the refugee crises would be the biggest since World War II, but the transmigration of people does not represent a new phenomenon in the history of human civilization, it is even like that, that the phenomenon of transmigration was always initiating a new era, a renewal and an important step forward to a next level of human civilization.

But the open call would like to get down to the human dimensions, since the refugees are human individuals who are forced to leave their home countries in order to get shelter, protection and perspectives for survival elsewhere. Do or did they find the “promissed land” – temporarily or for sure?

Artists and video makers are invited to submit and spotlight this human dimension and the diversity of reasons and motivations to become a refugee.

Never More! - Hiroshima-Fukushima
Deadline: 1 December 2015

6 August 2015
70 Years Hiroshima - and a never ending collective trauma.
That we did not learn from history showed the nuclear desaster of Fukushima on 11 March 2011.

CTF - Collective Trauma Film Collections
is looking for audio-visual works dealing with the topic of the nuclear desasters of Hiroshima and/or Fukushima and the perspectives for mankind.
The 70th return of bombing Hiroshima and Nagasaki is again and again an appeal to stop using the uncoltrollable nuclear power and its desastrous effects on human existance, but much more also an appeal to Peace and the renouncement of violence for resolving international conflicts.

Hiroshima and Fukushima are representing symbols that it is not yet too late to rethink and stop and give mankind and humanity a chance to survive.

CTF - Collective Trauma Film Collection
is inviting video and filmmakers all over the world to join and submit and appeal to the world "Never More - Hiroshima-Fukushima"

Deadline: 22 December 2015

://self~imaging
a show for Peace - a show for Humanity
artists show face against
Intolerance, Racism, Xenophobia and Anti-Semitism

exhibition project 2016/2017

is looking for artists who show face

2006/2007, the Cologne based media artist and curator was realising the exhibition project
://selfportrait - a Show for Bethlehem - a show for Peace
in Palestine (Bethlehem), Italy (Naples) , Poland (Szczecin) and Argentina (Santa Fe & Rosario)

The documentation and the online part of this project - are now relaunched online on
http://self.engad.org - http://self.engad.org/blog/

There are good reasons to do so, because - 10 years later in 2016/2017, Agricola de Cologne would like to realise another exhibition featuring artists showing face via their selfportraits - this time against Intolerance, Racism, Xenophobia and Antisemitism.

During the years 1995-1998, Agricola de Cologne was realising the Memorial Project
-A Virtual Memorial - Memorial project against the Forgetting, Racism, Xenophobia & Ant-Semitism
http://alm.a-virtual-memorial.org, which has been presented 43 times in Poland, Germany, Czech Republik and Belgium.

We live currently in a world which is marked by nationalistic, fundamentalist political developments
and an increasing intolerance and inhumanity against different minded, people coming from different cultures,
practicing different religions, following different ideologies, refugees, persecuted and expelled who need the solidarity of those who are able to show solidarity - think of the refugee desaster in the Mediterranean, IS terror in Middle East, Africa , Asia or Ukraine, think of the political nationalist right wing movements in France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany or elsewhere threatening our democracy and its values, but also the diversity of our natural habitat in an era of dramatically vanishing species and the misuse of the Creation by the humans on Earth.

A society is as good as how it treats its minorities, the poor and weak and all those needing our protection.

Artists working in different artistic media are invited you to show face in favour of a society practicing humanity and solidarity, and participate in the new exhibition to be planned for 2016/2017 to be presented in different venues and countries
